Key Family of Companies is currently seeking an Executive Controller at our Indianapolis, IN 46250 Headquarters' Office Location.  Full benefit package included. 

Position Summary: the Executive Controller leads and directs accounting functions and maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of accounting records, the development of comprehensive controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Directs all analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, planning, required filings and reports.
  • Oversees the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
  • Actively works with the CFO to develop the skills necessary to become a succession candidate for the CFO position in the future.
  • Provides internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
  • Oversees the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
  • Maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
  • Oversees the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, and funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.
  • Oversees the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure  adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Assures corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for managing the Finance department.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated financial management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Eight plus years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
  • Experience managing processes.
  • Ability to navigate financial software.
  • Experience developing financial standards for a major organization.
  • Ability to analyze financial results and make recommendations to management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant  or Certified Management Accountant designations. 
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Project.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously.
